Grace serves the wider church as the contact congregation for Lutheran students at Winthrop University. We do this through Winthrop Episcopal-Lutheran Campus Ministry (WELCM), in partnership with the SC Synod of the ELCA, the Upper SC Diocese of the ECUSA, and the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill. As a congregation, we seek to provide a "home-away-from-home" for students while they are on campus. The "White House," located directly behind the church at 520 Aiken Avenue, serves as our campus ministry center.
The WELCM group meets Wednesday evenings at 6 p.m. during the semester. The evening begins with a potluck meal provided by Grace Lutheran and a chance to meet and relax with fellow students and Grace members. After dinner WELCM members move to the White House for a program, or activity -- including: worship, fellowship, Bible study, group discussion, and service/outreach projects. Members take the time to eat, play and pray together, supporting one another through the highs, and lows of the life of a student.
Join us for a wonderful home-cooked meal and a chance to get to know others seeking to practice and grow their faith, and finding a place where they can ask questions and find companions along the way. All are WELCoMe!!!
