Winthrop Episcopal-Lutheran Campus Ministry
Grace serves the wider church as the contact congregation for Lutheran students at Winthrop University. We do this through Winthrop Episcopal-Lutheran Campus Ministry (WELCM), in partnership with the SC Synod of the ELCA, the Upper SC Diocese of the ECUSA, and the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Rock Hill. As a congregation, we seek to provide a "home-away-from-home" for students while they are on campus. The "White House," located directly behind the church at 520 Aiken Avenue, serves as our campus ministry center.
Through the continued leadership of Pastor Rebecca Jane Lord-Phillips and April Hershey, we invite students to take advantage of a variety of activities.
- The WELCM group meets at the White House (520 Aiken Avenue) Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. during the semester for a home-cooked dinner provided by congregation members, followed by a program or activity including worship, fellowship, Bible study, group discussion, and service/outreach projects. Members take the time to eat, play and pray together, supporting one another through the highs, and lows of the life of a student.
- We invite all students to attend the Young Adult Bible Study each Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m also held at the White House. The study focuses on discussion rather than lecture and is open to anyone identifying themselves as "young adult".
Join us for a chance to get to know others seeking to practice and grow their faith, and finding a place where they can ask questions and find companions along the way. All are WELCoMe!!!
